A portrait of Joey Jones, owner and lead engineer at Aria Studio

Meet Joey Jones

Music is my calling. It’s what drives me to live life and is absolutely why I created Aria Recording Studio. I’ve always been driven to build an environment for other musicians that’s conducive to creating unique art, and am compelled to help artists actualize sonic concepts. Above all, capturing honest performances and working closely with each artist is paramount.

People always ask how the studio was named.

Being the sole engineer, I was inspired by a single opera singer performing an Aria: one person delivering his or her unique voice and talent. To me, this encapsulates my mission as a musician, producer and engineer.

Visualizing the concept was tricky. The “Aria Lion” is almost an anti-logo – it’s filled with detail, revealing more about the mission of the studio than remaining sketchbook friendly.

First, the eyes: they’re diamonds, representing a clear, multifaceted vision of the artist, reflecting his or her many angles, layered depths and unique nuances. Second, strength: the lion itself symbolizes the enduring strength needed to protect and support artist creativity, and provide guidance when most courageously needed. Lastly, the “Aria A.” This is the heart of the logo; the centerpiece held up by a bond between the lion and serpent.

This alliance, between myself and the artist, is the collaborative cornerstone that each successful project is built on.
